Tuesday will mark the one month mark of the beginning of the year of the Rat, Which also means one month since the Banquet. Even though it has only been one month, it has felt like five months. Time is weird like that sometimes. Except for when I'm in the kwoon. Time seems to always be on point with how it feels. When you spend fifty minutes there for class, it feels like fifty minutes. Then you walk out to go home and the ten minute drive feels like a fifteen minute drive. It's like the kwoon is a central place where we just "reset". Everything feels normal.

Week 4 Year 2
This past week we have started to do stick again in my class. I still remember the old stick 1, 2, and 3. Now with the introduction of the new Stick 2, it will be a bit more difficult to remember. I am still glad that we have brought Stick back into our class. I am also glad that there is now a Curriculum up on Kwoon Talk. Now I can get a general idea of what we will be working on in class each month. I am also getting closer to the end of Lau Gar with each Saturday that passes.

Week 3 Year 2
Developing a form is what I thought it was going to be. Difficult. With that being said, I feel like I have my beta version of my beta done. It definitely needs lots of work, but I now have the base done. I got it done way quicker than I thought it would, even with the form still being about 30 seconds. Continuing on with weapons, I am glad that the smaller kids are starting to learn how to use a stick. Some kids are on their third or fourth class, and they're already learning Stick 1! It's amazing. Helping the kids learn stick has also made me question myself on what I actually remember of Stick. So far my memory is holding out.

Week 2, Year 2
This past week has been an really good start to the year of the Rat for me. I say that because it has felt like my most productive week in an long time. I'm not sure why, but it felt like it.
That's where I left on Sunday. Now, it's Tuesday. Whoops. I just got back from helping out with the kids classes where we worked on "tuned down" drills. I would consider that to be "rounds of sparring", but I would like to know what you guys think. And even though I am finishing this on Tuesday, I will still be using my numbers from Sunday just so it's easier for me to update them next week.

Week 1. Year 2
Year of the Rat, here we come! Time to start some things over and continue on with others. This year I will be making my own nun-chuck form for my weapon, and I will be doing Lou Gar for my hand form. Last year, I had lots of fun doing the school nun-chuck form and I enjoyed watching others have their own forms, so that's my main plan for this year. the banquet last night went really well from what I could tell, and I am excited to see Sifu Ward and Sifu Sollinger on the mats this upcoming week. I also want to say good job to the dragon and lion dancers, as they both looked awesome. That's all I have to say for now. Go Rat!

Week 50
This will be my last blog post of the year of the pig. I guess it's true when they say time flies by when you're having fun. This year has been a really good first year in my opinion. While I didn't get all of my personal requirements, I finished all my mandatory requirements. That means that I definitely have something to work on for next year. I am excited for the banquet, mostly because it is the last and most important performance of the year. Good luck to all of us, and bring on the rat!

Week 49
After the meeting yesterday, I can say that it will be weird not seeing some of the "regular" faces at the next one. We will miss having you on the team, but now you have a chance to do your own thing for awhile. Have fun. Now, to the rats. Some of us are returning, and some of us are new to the team. Which ever one you are, it doesn't matter. We're a team, and teams stay together. So lets do our best at being a team this year. See all of you guys on the mats.
