3.18

Within the next two weeks, I will have finished my first year in high school. That sounds weird to say, since I'm usually the youngest one in the group outside of school. and since the school year is about to be over, I will soon be able to divert all of my time onto Kung Fu, and I'll be able to spend the same amount of time on something, but I can cover more topics now with the extra time. This will be really helpful for my training, and also my fitness. I'm looking forward to being able to spend as much time during the day as i want doing Kung Fu.

3.17

For the past bit I have diverted almost all of my attention onto just my technique, because I have found that I am lacking in quality on several techniques. This is has been the most obvious in my Roundhouse kicks, where I found that my kicks were very sloppy and were more of a Dragons Whip. To improve on this I have slowed my kicks down a bit, allowing me to focus more on the technique and less on speed/power. Once I get my technique back to where it needs to be I'll start to focus on those too more, but until then I'll keep adjusting my kick until it's perfect.

3.15

Today I got my first dose of the vaccine, and I am feeling good! I only got the shot a few hours ago so most major side effects will probably come in the following days, if what my friends say is true. I'm glad that I was able to get my shot when I could, because I don't know long I would've had to wait to find another opening. This is also good timing because of of school, which goes back to in person on Tuesday, but now that almost everyone has one shot of the vaccine it should be a little bit safer. I am looking forward to seeing how my body reacts to the vaccine, if I have any major side effects at all.

3.14

This upcoming week will be my last before I get my first round of vaccinations. It's coming a lot sooner than I expected, because of my age. I'm not complaining though, as I want to get mine as soon as possible. Another good thing is that I get our of isolation on Friday, so I'll be able to go back into the outside world very soon.

This morning we did our mock version of the kicks portion of the Black belt Fitness test as we usually do on Sunday's but this time we had Three Sifu's watch us and give us feedback. This is going to help a lot, as we now have a better idea of what to work on. I need to work on my stances and pivoting during a roundhouse, so that's what I'll focus on for the next week and a bit.

3.13.5 "Positively Negative"

A bit of a mid-week update for this one. I tested on Monday, and test results came back on Tuesday. I tested negative! This was a relief, but I'm not free yet. AHS recommends that I continue to quarantine for 14 days from last contact just incase I do develop symptoms. This sucks, but it makes sense. Guess I'll miss grocery shopping with my parents again this week. Either way, testing negative is good news, and I should be able to be back in public by the 20th.

3.13

On Friday I switched to online school because of the new restrictions. This was fine, as we were all expecting it to happen. The classes went fairly well, and everything went smooth. That changed when we got the email of a confirmed covid case in my morning class. Bummer. This is the first time I've personally had to isolate, as I've never been a close contact before. It'll be weird, but it won't be too much different from the plans I had in place before I found out. This is probably the least worst time for me to isolate, because i won't miss any school or Kung Fu. The only part that will make me miss school is the test, which will be my first one so that should be interesting. I don't feel sick at all, so I doubt that I was actually a "close" contact with whoever tested positive. I will still follow all the isolation protocols just to be safe, and I'll adapt when needed!

3.12

When we were doing our weekly kicks this morning, I found that I was focusing more on the kicking part than I was the stances part. This proved to do more harm than good, because it didn't increase my overall numbers, and it made my stances sloppier at the same time. When we do it again next Sunday I will focus more on my stances and see what kind of changes that brings. During the week, I'm going to keep working on my sword form to see how far I can take my limited sword abilities. So far I am enjoying the sword, and I hope it continues to be that way.

As I finish my fourth year, and prepare to head back to work full time, I can now compare my weight to where I was last year. At this time ...
